Zeebs gaining experience and skill

Dan Moriarty
The Thirds Football team played an aggressive and hard fought game against a tough competitor at Middlesex School this afternoon. The Zebras made big gains in skill over the previous week on both sides of the ball. After a tentative start on offense, the team came back in the second half and made four first downs, taking the ball to inside their opponent’s 20 yard line on two occasions. Freshman Patty Eldridge completed a 14 yard pass to Chris Kadiri (III) in the third quarter. Chris carried the ball for 30 yards overall, Benson Han (II) for 22, Eldridge for 10 and senior Autumn Johnson for 7 yards. Tackle Kyle Toce (III) had a ball carry of four yards on a trick play, gaining a first down and big smiles for the offense and coaches in the process. Although Middlesex was able to score twice in the first quarter on breakaway plays, the Zebras held them to just one touchdown in the rest of the game. Leading tacklers include Josh Poulin (III) with 5 unassisted tackles, Ziggy Bereday (III) Tate Burgin (IV), Spencer Miller (IV), Kyle Toce, and Griffin Elliot (III) who denied the opponent a first down and later sacked the quarterback for a loss of 8 yards. Freshman Luke Romano shut down an attempted 2 point conversion, leaving the final score 22 - 0, but the sun is rising on this team!
