Tough opening game for the 3rds boys

In a hard-fought first contest for Groton, the early portion of the game was marked by great scoring opportunities and great saves at both ends. Brooks struck first, when one of their players eluded 4 zebras in the box and put home a left-footed shot. Brooks struck again shortly before halftime when a nice passing play combined with a brief lapse in defensive communication to give a Brooks player a wide-open look at the goal. Groton clawed one back early in the second half as Theo got on the end of a nice service and opened his Groton scoring career with a tap-in from 6 yards out. Brooks managed one more with about 10 minutes to play for the final margin.
