Held them to 6 until last quarter

Jennifer Wallace
The score doesn't tell the whole story, but our team showed some real grit.
We were out-sized on the line. Their defensive ends were well over six feet, larger than even our biggest and baddest tackle, Kyle Toce (III). As a result, our offense never really got going, despite the great leadership of quarterback Patty Eldridge (III); the valiant runs of Chris Kadiri (III) and Benson Han (II); and the strong blocking of Autumn Johnson (VI), Luke Romano (II), and Ziggy Bereday (II). Special kudos goes to our novice center, Hugh Carlin (II), who did not have one bad snap the entire game, despite a huge defense breathing down his neck. Because we had a hard time getting our QB time to throw, we could not get the ball to our faithful ends: Mike Pelletier (II) and Griffin Elliott (III). Even the coach had some kinks to work out, as she called the wrong number play twice. (Sorry, Patty.)

We spent most of the game on defense, but we dug in and kept Rivers to 6 points until the fourth quarter. Highlights include a sack and several tackles by Tate Burgin (IV), three tackles in three plays in a row by newcomer Ben Reyes (III), and a slew of tackles by Josh Poulin (III), Carlos Soto (III), AJ Colarusso (III), Benson, Luke, Patty, Spencer Miller (IV) and more. Rivers never made a two-point conversion, thanks to our tough goal-line defense. For most of our team, this was their first regulation game ever—and I can guarantee you, that was not the case for the Rivers team on the field. To all of them, I congratulate them on a great debut, no matter what the score.
