Bears at Holderness

Partly cloudy and a bit chilly in New Hampshire. Quite possibly the most exciting element of the afternoon were the two black bears in a tree just off the edge of the field (the Robert T. Low Field, named after our own athletic director). The first half belonged decisively to Holderness as they scored three unanswered goals. The Groton girls were much improved in the second half: they were quicker to step up to the ball, speedier as they ran back on defense or forward to the circle on attack, and better at looking for, sending and receiving passes. Highlights included two spectacular goals. Freddie Tobeason fired a fierce shot across the circle into the opposite side of the goal, and rookie Ella Ferrucci scored her first varsity goal, a beautiful reverse-chip ball past the goalie, also to the opposite side of the goal.
