Zebras Dominate in St. Mark's Day Contests

Groton triumphed over longtime rival St. Mark’s during its end-of-season showdown in late February, winning four of six athletic matches and tying one.

Posting wins were girls varsity hockey 2–1, girls varsity basketball 42–40, girls JV basketball 42–17, and boys JV basketball 49–36. Boys varsity hockey tied 1–1 and boys varsity basketball fell in a hard-fought contest, 62–47.
 
Several teams did not play during St. Mark’s Weekend, but fared well against the rival earlier in the season. Boys JV hockey put away St. Mark’s on February 3, 4–0; girls JV puck last played St. Mark’s on January 13, a 4–0 loss. Boys varsity squash beat St. Mark’s 7–0 on February 16, and on the same day girls varsity squash topped the rival 4–3. Girls JV squash lost a squeaker 6–5 that day, while boys JV squash won handily, 5–2.
 
After winter battles between the Zebras and the Lions, the lion is no longer king of the jungle. Go Zebras!
