Athlete Of the Week 11/2/16

Congratulations to JV Field Hockey on being this week’s Team Of the Week, and to
Brent GortonBen CalmasDerek ChangLeo McMahon, and Bridget Cornell on being the Athletes Of the Week!!!
“After a week defined by wet, rainy weather, the JV FH Juggernaut traveled to St. Paul’s School on Saturday.  Despite playing on a slick field  in front of a full contingent of St. P’s Parents, the team pulled together mightily and constructed a 2-0 win.  So inspiring to see great passing connections through the midfield, determined marking, excellent goal keeping, and two great goals in the second half, both of which were with nice assists and finishes.  Well done!”-- Coach Dennison, Gracey, and Posillico

““JV football: Brent Gorton and Ben Calmas. Brent and Ben have been quiet but effective leaders for JV football. Both of them start on both the offensive and defensive line, almost never coming out of the game. They play hard and with great sportsmanship, providing an example for the younger players on JV to follow. Brent's strong suit is his ability to pull and make blocks in the open field, and Ben is tough for opponents to handle on the interior of the defensive line. Their play helped JV football to beat St. Marks on Monday 18-12 in a well-played game."—Coach Lamont

“Derek Chang led the JV Boys’ Cross-Country race at St. Paul’s this past Saturday all the way to the finish, and Leo McMahon surged ahead to finish first by a step. Great leadership for both of these racers!”—Coach Capen

“Bridget has been a force on attack all season. Her competitive energy combined with her willingness to learn and enjoy the game of soccer have made her one of our toughest attackers, and one of the biggest threats to all the defenses we've come across this year. She puts fourth all her effort during games, and we appreciate her focus and determination whenever she is on the field"—Coach Leroy, Meyer, and Giles
