Groton Athletes Head to College Teams

A dozen of the 93 students graduating with the Form of 2019 have been recruited to play in collegiate athletic programs. Three will be rowing, two playing ice hockey, two basketball, and one each playing field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and football. 
 
2019 graduates rowing in college will be Clement Banwell at George Washington University, Finn Lynch at Cornell, and Johnny Stankard at Columbia. 
 
Meghan Carney and Lyndsey Toce plan to play women's basketball, at Saint Michael’s College and Connecticut College respectively. 
 
Both men's and women's ice hockey teams will welcome Groton grads: Bridget Cornell at Wesleyan University and Andrew Burke at Colby College. Playing football at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute will be Jake Kissell, while Freddie Tobeason will play field hockey at Washington & Lee, and Stephen Perchuk will join the men's soccer team at Wesleyan. 
 
Two graduates plan to play at U.S. military academies: Patrick Ryan will play lacrosse at the Naval Academy, while Bennett Smith will play baseball at West Point. In addition to these twelve, numerous 2019 graduates are expected to try out for college teams in the fall.
