The final match: Groton defeats St. Mark's!
Finishing what by all measures can only be considered a brilliant season, the boys tennis team defeated St. Mark's by a score of 7-0. The match was never in question with excellent play by all of our doubles teams: Matt Kandel / Andrew Yang, Gabe Scholl / Powers Trigg and Jared Gura / Ben Jones. Then, in singles, the Groton boys won up and down the line-up. Victories resulted from the play of Matt Kandel, Gabe Scholl, Powers Trigg, Jared Gura, Ben Jones and Noah Bay.
This match completed a 14-1 ISL campaign and an overall 17-1 dual match record. One more tournament on Saturday -- the New England Prep School Invitational Singles and Doubles Event -- and then it's time to put away the racquets for a little. We will miss our wonderful Sixth Form Captains: Andrew Yang, Gabe Scholl and Aaron Jin. They gave their heart and soul to this team over many, many years. Their leadership helped to put Groton back at the top of the great tennis schools of New England. We were also very lucky to have the help of our managers this spring: Dawit Ghebremedhin and Riya Maholtra. ¡Olé!
