Groton holds on for tense win over Tabor

Groton held on for a tense win over Tabor Academy, with Shane Kim earning the win and AJ Colarusso getting the save. After Tabor manufactured a run on a walk, steal, sacrifice bunt, and a ground out in the first, Groton struck back for 3 runs in their half. Bennett Smith drove in his brother Walker with a single to left, and Luke Beckstein came all the way around to score from first when the ball snuck under the left fielder's glove. Nick Beck then singled Bennett home to give Groton a 2 run lead. Groton tacked on another in the second, with Walker Davey scoring on a passed ball. Each team put up a crooked number in the 3rd, with Walker Smith singling home Drew Burke and Nick Wyman to give Groton a two run lead after Tabor tied it on three walks and a couple doubles in the top half. Tabor tightened it back up with a single run in the top of the 4th, but Shane Kim was able to battle his way through the 5th inning with no more damage, and AJ struck out 3 over a strong final two innings to shut the door.
