Zebras, Foxes Clash

Two Similar Clubs
Perhaps the indecisive, unpredictable weather foreshadowed this event; nonetheless, both teams battled hard in this typically taut contest. Roxbury Latin set the tone on its first possession with an on-the-run bouncer off a midfield sweep, and although Groton answered to tie it, the Foxes were up, 5-2, by the intermission (which included a coast-to-coast transition goal by its premier defenseman). Another goal in the 3rd gave RL a 6-2 bubble headed into the final frame. As the wind gusts picked up, so did Groton's intensity, which led to six unanswered goals...thanks to, in large part, fourteen groundballs, tough defensive play, clutch face-off execution, and intelligent ball control (and those groundballs). Although Navy-bound captain Pat Ryan's acrobatic one-on-one stuff helped ignite the explosive quarter, he'd be the first to say how it was a total team effort. And it was. Up next: at Tabor.
