Zebras outrun Tigers

Groton with thrilling comeback OT win.
Groton fought 128 traffic to take on a Thayer Tigers team that has played an immensely demanding schedue thus far.
The Zebras got off the bus and played a methodical first half, heading into the break with a taut 1-0 advantage. The second half was a see-saw. Thayer surged ahead, 3-1, only to have Groton knot it at 3. Then Thayer scored (4-3), then Groton (4-4), then Thayer (5-4) then Groton (5-5). With the last possession in regulation time, Groton couldn't convert.
Groton then lost the critical OT faceoff, but a clutch defensive play then a crafty clear brought the ball back to the offense side, where the Zebras spun the ball around the horn, called a timeout, and then hit paydirt off an impeccably well-placed bouncer.
Hats off to both squads for a great game of lacrosse.
Nice to have former 4-year starter and All-ISL captain Taggart Eymer on the sideline.
Up next: RL/home.
