Groton falls 6-3 in league opener

After letting up three runs in the first inning, Groton’s first ISL game against Lawrence Academy was a constant uphill battle. However, with strong pitching by Shane Kim and a couple big hits, the team managed to fight back to a 4-3 deficit. Luke Beckstein, who got on base three out of four at bats and scored twice, helped keep the team in the game. Groton loaded the bases with two outs and a full count in the 6th inning but couldn't push across the tying run.  In the 7th inning LA was able to tack on a pair of insurance runs, making the score 6-3. Groton battled to the end, working a pair of works to bring the tying run to the plate, but were unable to complete the comeback.
