A great effort!

We ended the season playing some of our best hockey and competing hard. The improvement that we made since last time we played St. Mark's was quite noticeable. After good play both ways, St. Mark's struck first, about 9 minutes into the game. Unlike our last couple games, in which we've been able to respond immediately to giving up the first goal, St. Mark's was able to keep us from scoring through the end of the first period. Gracie earned a glorious opportunity 7 minutes into the second period, but her shot rang off the crossbar, and St. Mark's retained their lead. With 4 minutes to play in the second, they were able to extend the lead to 2-0 on a point shot through traffic. Undeterred, we kept working hard and supporting each other. Less than 2 minutes into the third periopd, Katie fed Lilly for a beautiful goal that cut the lead to 2-1. Unfortunately, St. Mark's responded within 30 seconds with a beautiful goal of their own off of a faceoff win. The final tally of the game came with 8:41 left as St. Mark's got their 4th. The Groton girls did a fabulous job today, and they should be proud of their effort and improvement on the season.
