Hard Earned

This year's St. Mark's team was strong enough to provide a difficult test so today's match was a well earned win for Groton against our longtime, traditional rival school. On a day when their best squash was needed, the Groton players all rose to the occasion. The tone was set early as Walker Davey earned a long, three-game win. A short time later, Aaron Jin and Garrett Johnson both played with great determination to eventually win their fifth games, 11 - 8. Cal Wilson then took control of his match to win in three while Gus Vrattos and Gabe Scholl held off their opponents' strong pushes to do the same. In the last match on, Edwardo Perez of St. Mark's showed terrific hands, poise and sportsmanship but a hard-working Tate Burgin was eventually able to develop an edge to take the four-game match.

Even with one more team match to play, the traditional rivalry and close competition made today feel like a very satisfying culmination to the regular season.
