A tough outing heading into the long weekend

While we started the game focused on the task at hand, we could not sustain our focus and execute well as the game wore on. We opened the scoring less than four minutes in on a beautiful goal. Gracie picked up the puck in the neutral zone and carried it into the offensive zone, drawing several Lawrence defenders to her. As they converged on her, she slid the puck to an open Lilly, who took the wide-open shot and put it behind the Lawrence goalie. Unfortunately, we fell victim to similar plays the rest of the game, as lapses in communication and awareness meant we often had several players chasing the same puck, allowing one pass to beat more than one of us and create opportunities for Lawrence. When combined with Lawrence's greater consistency in skating through loose pucks with feet still moving, it was a tough afternoon. A long weekend full of sleep should help us recharge for a busy final two weeks, with 5 games on the calendar.
