Puck shows it metal

In a contest that never seems to lack for excitement, the Pucksters hooked-up with Rival St Marks for a good ol' fashion nail biter on Saturday. In a fast paced game dominated by solid goaltending form both squads, lots of near misses and more post ringing by Puck the Pucksters never trailed. A day removed from hitting bottom as a team Puck came out playing with a purpose and as a team. The return of Walshy and Robbie the key adjustment. Tyler Bowden started in net and held off the initial onslaught. After weatherring the hosts first 5 minutes responded with some good pressure of its own getting serious zone time and quaility looks. Best result was another post by Jack. For two offensively challenged teams not a surprise the first ended 0-0. Not for lack of chances but for lack of a good finish.
Puck took over the game in the second as it had the better legs. With another couple of posts and missed chances the frustration was mounting. Then a play was made. Charlie Beard cooly slipped a puck through the crease to an open Robbie with an open net. 1-0 Puck. Puck was unable to pad the lead before the horn sounded.
In a see-saw final period the hosts tied up the game on a defensive lapse. Walshy, fresh from the health center, answered from the point restroing the lead. St Marks never quit as they outworked Puck and once again tied up the game. As OT looked like a given Robbie was able to jam one in during a goal mouth scramble. The hosts threw everything they had at Puck coming down the stretch. Mike Pelletier stood strong in the net. Puck had a chance to take the suspense out of the game as Thorndike was in alone on an empty net and .... hit the post, Sorry Spencer.
As the final horn sounded a jubilent Puck team mobbed each other around the net. The entire team played well however kudos to the three man defense rotation, which allowed for the forward line combs needed on the day, Sixth formers Brent Gorton and Seamus McAvoy along with Mike Walsh who really sucked it up despite being under the weather and had his best game yet.
