Girls Fall to Brooks

Groton traveled to Brooks to square off with the 2x defending class B NEPSAC champions and started strong with a quick 11-3 lead. Groton's offense cooled off and Brooks went on a 10-0 run to end the 1st quarter with a 13-11 lead. Brooks continued their hot shooting and went into the half with a 36-29 lead. The 3rd quarter saw Brooks extend their lead as Groton tired and turnovers mounted, heading into the final quarter the Zebras trailed 53-40. Brooks largest lead was 17 midway through the 4th but Groton battled back and got within 8 points but simply ran out of gas and eventually lost 64-52. 

Freshman Ava Dwyer had her best game of her early career at Groton, nailing 5 3-pointers, on her way to leading all scorers with 24 points. Senior co-captain Jojo Sulmasy also had a great game, scoring 18 points, she was a force going to the hoop and getting to the free throw line where she was 6-8. Junior co-captain Maddie St. Clair chipped in with 2 3-pointers for 6 points.
