Groton win the Battle for Groton!

The annual Saturday night double header that includes the Groton and Lawrence Academy boys and girls varsity teams playing in back to back games was played at the Groton School this year. After the boys lost a tough game, the girls were determined to not make the night a complete loss. They started off on fire and had their best quarter of the young season, earning a 22-7 lead after the 1st quarter. The teams played evenly in the 2nd quarter resulting in a Groton 34-19 lead at the half. Groton maintained a comfortable lead until Lawrence Academy went on an impressive run to cut Groton’s lead to 48-45 with 6 minutes left in the game. The Groton girls never lost their composure and ended the game on their own impressive run of 19-5 to secure the 67-50 win!

Ava Dwyer led the team with 18 points followed by Jojo Sulmasy 14, Male Montero 10, Tyler Martens 9, and Maddie St. Clair and Grace Janusz with 8.
