If I had to choose one, it would have to be the Thayer football game my junior year. At the beginning of the game, the entertainment level was dull, then next thing you know it was like a classic high school night game with the whole school watching. I remember we were ahead with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. Thayer had the ball and was driving down the field like the juggernaut of a team they were. Their quarterback rolled out and threw the ball towards my man. I remember thinking in my head, “That was a mistake.” I accelerated forward and intercepted the ball in their end zone. I wanted to try to run it back but decided to slide so we could milk the clock out. Game Over. I got a lot of the recognition after the game because of the interception, but I give all the credit to our fearless leader, Bennett Smith. Thayer ended up getting the ball back and started driving again. On fourth and goal, the Thayer quarterback dropped back and flung the pigskin. Thump! The ball fell to the ground. Of course, Bennett knocked it down not even giving Thayer the thrill of thinking they had a chance. I remember walking off the field saying, “Man, I really just balled out with my dawgs!”

What advice would you give students who want to play in college?
College athletics are no joke. They require you to give everything you have. Playing in college is up to you. You just have to do it.
