How did your time at Groton prepare you for college soccer?
My time at Groton prepared me for college soccer by teaching me how to create a healthy but strong balance between athletics and academics. Before Groton, I didn’t understand how to apply 100 percent to everything I did without spreading myself too thin. Groton taught me how to create an order of importance in my life and make decisions according to that plan.
What was the highlight or favorite memory of your athletic career at Groton?
My favorite memory of my athletic career at Groton undeniably was winning the New England Class C Championship against Wheeler in 2010. The year before, we had lost a devastating game against Brewster in the semifinals, and I knew that, in my sophomore year, all I wanted to do was win the championship for my amazingly talented seniors. In the second half of the game, I was brutally tackled in the box and rewarded with a penalty kick. I have a history of taking atrocious penalty kicks, thus I was surprised when Ms. Mongan [Sarah Mongan, former varsity coach] allowed me to proceed. Needless to say, it was a pathetic excuse for a shot, but somehow it went in. We ended up winning the game by a goal. Seeing the tears of joy covering every teammate's face after the last whistle blew was the highlight of my Groton career.
