Day 8 - To the Campsite!

We set out early this morning for our campsite at Pumamarca, marking the start of our long-awaited overnight trip. Four miles and 1800+ feet of elevation made for a challenging voyage, but the provided snacks and music from Rex’s iPod made it an enjoyable one. We arrived that afternoon with just enough energy left to enjoy some games, courtesy of Pancho and Fernando, including “Pato Ciego” (blindfolded monkey in the middle) and “Mata Personas” (super intense dodgeball). Morale was high as we chatted and laughed through a delicious dinner of carne y papas fritas. We finished an amazing day with marshmallows and karaoke around the campfire, and fell asleep in tents under a sky full of stars, happy despite the freezing cold.
