Day 12 - Clases de Cocina
This morning, the group set out early in the morning for our cooking class. We arrived at 9:00 a.m. ready to make our lunch. First, we began by peeling green beans, squeezing limes, peeling chicken, cutting celery, and slicing meat into small pieces. Then, we learned that the most efficient way to peel and mash potatoes is to do so while they’re steaming hot — how difficult! Our meal consisted of Causa Rellena and Rocoto Relleno. Afterwards, we all helped clean the kitchen and thanked the staff for teaching us how to make delicious Peruvian dishes. In preparation for our activities at the elementary school, the group returned to our homestays with many of us taking hour-long naps to recharge for the afternoon. At 3:00 p.m. we walked to the school; we all enjoyed teaching the little ones how to make bracelets, paint, play board games, basketball, and soccer. Tonight, we had our daily reunion in Tumy House at 5:30 p.m., and all agreed to immediately go back home as we are leaving for Machu Picchu early tomorrow morning! ¡Hasta luego!
