Day 1 and 2, Traveling to Peru
On Friday, we all took our final exam of the year in Spanish, before departing to JFK airport in New York. Our flight was a red-eye to Lima before hopping onto our second flight to Cusco. When we arrived, the adventure truly began! We were greeted by our Peruvian friends, who gave us a wonderful tour of the geography, the history, and the culture of Peru. As we drove from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, we stopped by several incredible landmarks. Climbing up to Cristo Blanco we overlooked the city, and valleys forged by the Incas before eventually stopping for lunch in Pisac. Our delicious meal consisted of yucca and guacamole, pollo, and olives. After taking tons of pictures, we traveled once again until finally reaching our destination, the beautiful town of Ollantaytambo! For our first night, we were welcomed into our hotel where we played cards for hours on end until our group meeting that concluded our night. We discussed our best parts of the day and even received a journal to keep track our memories and a matching shirt for all of us. Our first day in Peru set the tone for a wonderful and exciting adventure!
