Spirit Week is a time that brings out the zebra in everyone. Whether it be the dress-up themes or the Roll Call games, there is no shortage of competition.
As the days count down to St. Mark's Day, dorms line up against each other in a series of challenges for the claim of the most spirited dorm. The entire school gathers around the Forum in a circle, while delegates from each dorm get sent down for the competition. We are dressed in the school theme for the day, and every outfit is crazier than the last. Any stress or worry about classwork quickly fades behind the loud shouts from each dorm directing and cheering on their members.
On the meme wall, memes created by students commemorate all the bizarre moments of the term in a lighthearted manner. They line the plaques outside the Schoolroom, generating a laugh from anyone who passes by.
Every night, the scores and standings are released as well as the theme for the next day. At the end of the week, on the Saturday of St. Mark's Day, everyone dresses decked out in a sea of Groton. The cheering and spirit that everyone has been building up all week are used by both those playing in the games and those cheering on the sidelines. Whether it be the dorm competitions or participating in one of the oldest high school rivalries, St Mark's Day never disappoints.
