A Groton Primer

In 17th century New England, primers were developed to help young students learn how to read and write. Today the term "primer" is used to describe any text that presents the most basic elements of any subject. Here's your primer on today's Groton...

"Our size is our strength" is a motto that captures the heart of the Groton experience. We offer opportunities to engage in multiple activities and develop lasting friendships with a wide variety of people. Members of our community feel a deep commitment of one to another and of each to the whole, and this stance allows a sense of inclusion among our students to flourish as authentic belonging. Our GRAIN initiative tackles tuition cost containment to a degree that may be unrivaled among schools and colleges in the United States. Groton transcends "need-blind admissions" to offer exceptional financial support to families from the moment an admission letter is opened to the day a diploma is in hand. We are a school that offers long lasting traditions and useful innovations that equip today's students with the tools to handle contemporary challenges. The founder of Groton School thought of his school as an extended family. Today, led by Headmaster Temba Maqubela, Groton retains that original spirit with a diverse and talented student body inspired to pursue lives of character, scholarship, leadership and service.
