Groton School’s boys varsity hockey team competes in Division I of the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association—one of the most competitive high school hockey conferences in the country. From November to March, the Zebras play two to three times a week against some of the most talented prep school hockey programs, working toward a playoff spot in the heavily scouted New England Tournament in March. Groton practices for 90-120 minutes four times a week, participates in off-ice team workouts twice a week, and regularly studies their game through video analysis.
In the last decade, Groton's players have joined teams at schools such as Yale University, the University of Vermont, Colgate University, Colby College, Babson College, Bowdoin College, St. Michael's College, Connecticut College, and Williams College.
Groton’s hockey program is looking for athletes who aspire to excel on the ice and in the classroom. Through skill development, proper teaching, and emphasis on work ethic and character, Groton prepares its hockey players for the next level and beyond.
