GROTON SCHOOL COMMUNITY SWIM LESSONS
2011-2012

Registration is open for the popular Groton School swim program, which is open to the public as well as the Groton School community. Lessons are run by recognized swim teacher Carol Fosdick Wright. Sessions last six weeks; each class is 40 minutes long.

Children must be at least 3 years old to participate.   

Class choices are as follows:  

Tuesdays, a 40-minute slot between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Thursdays, a 40-minute slot between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m.
Sundays, a 40-minute slot between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

You may choose your preferred day. Specific time slots are assigned after registration.

Session 1: Sept. 25–Oct. 30, 2011

Session 2:  Nov. 6–Dec. 18, 2011

Session 3: Jan. 8–Feb. 12, 2012

Session 4: Feb. 26–April 1, 2012

Session 5:  April 22–May 31, 2012

These are six-week sessions—there are no classes Thanksgiving week, Christmas week, February vacation week, or April vacation week.

Please choose the level below that best describes your child.  Students are placed according to age and ability and may be moved to a different level by the instructor.  

Swim Level Guidelines

Level 1     Afraid of water; won’t put face in

Level 1+    Loves water, but doesn’t know how to swim; blows bubbles, will get face wet

Level 2      Can swim 10 yards with no flotation

Level 2+    Can swim 10 yards freestyle with rhythmic breathing; can swim 10 yards of backstroke; learning to dive

Level 3     Can swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke; can dive

Level 3+    All of the above and is learning breast stroke, starts, and turns

Level 4     All of above and learning butterfly, starts, and turns

The community fee for the program is $132 per child, per session.  Due to the popularity of the program, especially at the beginner levels, please sign up as soon as possible by printing and filling out the waiver/registration form and returning it along with a check made out to Groton School. Lessons are offered to Groton School faculty and staff first, with remaining slots assigned on a first come, first served basis to the community.  Please return your form and check to:
