Big NEIRA Win for Groton Boys Crew

The Groton boys’ rowing team, comprising four boats, secured the overall point trophy at the the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship on Saturday May 23.
The win, in the "fours with coxswain" division, resulted from first-place showings by the third and fourth boats, a second-place finish by the second boat, and a third-place finish by the first boat. Compiling the boats' finishes, Groton came out on top, defeating perennial champion Belmont Hill by two points. Groton School last won this trophy in 2011, and before that, in 2002.

“The NEIRA point trophy was a fitting and well deserved win by the 16 oarsmen and their able coxswains,”  said Charlie Hamlin, varsity boys crew coach.  “Throughout the season, the level of commitment and tenacity paid off with a nearly perfect season by all four boats. Steve Timpany, the third and fourth boats' coach, and I could not be more proud of their effort and performance.”
