A Groton Win at Half-Marathon

Paul Michaud '18 outpaced all other boys in his age bracket at the Hyannis Half-Marathon on February 28, leading a dozen Groton students who traveled to Cape Cod for the race.
Paul won the Men's 15–17 Division, finishing the 13.1-mile course in 1:30:47, under seven minutes per mile.

Each year, Groton's winter running program culminates with the half-marathon in Hyannis, Massachusetts. For most runners, just completing the half-marathon is a triumph. But on occasion one of Groton's runners wins or places in the race.

Paul had never run a race longer than 5k before, and his results surprised him. “I didn't see it coming at all,” Paul said. “I had figured I would place pretty average for my age group, so it was a nice surprise to hear my name in the race results.”

Ever the teammate, Paul diverted attention from his win to all of the Groton students who trekked to the Cape. “The whole group did awesome,” he said. “Everyone ran a good race, and it was a fun day!”
